On canvas, Miek Verdegaal let spring blossom all year round
Each spring numerous visitors are surprised by the splendid colourful flower bulb fields, sharply outlined in the Dutch landscape.

Miek who grew up amongst the flower bulbs focuses on and introduces the viewer to the beautiful fields to experience together up close it’s fascinating beauty.

Although landscape paintings can be found amongst her artworks, it is precisely the beautiful forms of the various bulbous plants that captivate her most.

She seduces the viewer in
her so distinctive, varied and mystic world and expresses this with an accurate and explicit colour palette. For example, to have a single petal radiate she reproduces its intense power by applying several layers of oil paint on the canvas. Miek does not shunt the use of colours. Her use of colour is forceful, versatile and vivid. If the colours had a smell . . . . .  she says. And invisible her brush moves along with the growth of the bulbous plant.

Because of her graphical background she carefully weighs the composition of her topics. The proportions have to be correct, apart from some exceptions. And even with an eye for detail she will not bore the viewer with naturalistic reproduction. Artistically what indulces her the most is portraying the characteristic features of the bulb and its flower, and above all she wants to achieve that on canvas spring continues to blossom.
